Community Resources
Find professional health services, mutual aid organizations, community groups and other helpful information for Michigan Asian American families
In response to the mass shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, California Rising Voices held a joint community vigil and remembrance with Asian Pacific Islander American Vote Michigan and other partners in Madison Heights on Saturday, January 28th. In addition to providing a collective space for grieving and remembrance, a resource sheet was provided for Asian American community members who may be in crisis or in need.
Take a look at the information below provided in English and Vietnamese, as well as Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Please feel free to share with your communities.
Resources for Michigan Asian American Communities
The events in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, California are a profound tragedy for the victims, their families, and the larger community. In the wake of such trauma, paralysis from fear and grief is understandable. But to transcend such unimaginable violence it is essential that we come together to help and support one another.
We hope this resource document can aid our Michigan Asian American families as we grieve and recover. Donation links are provided to aid the families of victims, and we urge community members to use the information below as a resource for those in need of support from mental healthcare professionals, social workers and mutual aid organizations.
In times of crisis, we can assure our friends, family and loved ones that they are not alone and that help is within reach. When we come together, our beloved communities can be a source of solace, a place to find safety and a pathway to healing and recovery.
