RISING VOICES ASSEMBLY: THE CHINESE LADY
Please join Rising Voices for a special February RV Assembly: the Michigan AAPI community performance of The Chinese Lady at Tipping Point Theatre in Northville on Friday, February 23rd at 8PM. The play by Lloyd Suh centers the story of Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to arrive in America, exhibited as an exotic living object from the Orient. Her journey spans American history from the 1830s onward, and is a poetic, funny and moving coming of age story the amplifies the need for inclusive history in education.
This Michigan premiere is directed by Rising Voices’ own Co-Executive Director, Jasmine Rivera. Following the performance, Jasmine and the cast will lead a Q&A for the audience to discuss the production.
